hanks so much to all of you who are working on this little venture. GOOD job! I was with the class of '65 from Grade 1 at Nelson Dewey, to Franklin Jr. High, and at East through our junior year. I recall many good times - as well as a few "Whatever was I thinking?" moments.. We moved to Iowa in 1964 and I graduated from Monticello HS in 1965. I went to the University of Dubuque, also in Iowa, where I met my husband, Dick. It was during the thick of Vietnam, and he was two years older than I. He entered the military as a reservist after graduation. We wanted to marry, but my parents had this insane notion that I should finish school first, so I romped through my undergrad in 2 years and 9 months with a double major in biology and English. In a phrase - I had no fun in college! We are both very active with UD to this day. We were fortunate that Dick was accepted into officer training and was never sent to Vietnam. He spent 27 years in the Army Reserves, a move that we appreciate now as the medical benefits and retirement compensation are wonderful. He worked as an executive for Sears in "real life," and we moved seven times over the years. We raised three boys (now an entrepreneur, a partner in a CPA firm, and a Presbyterian pastor) and we enjoy our five grandchildren (4 girls and 1 boy, all HS or college) I taught eighth grade science and gifted language arts for many years, primarily in Naperville, IL. After attaining my M.Ed., I began curriculum writing and wrote the Particles and Prairies, now Energy and Ecosystems, curriculum for Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory; the classroom portion of The Secret Life of Dolphins for Brookfield Zoo; and The Flooded Forest (Peruvian Rainforest) for Wilderness Classroom in association with the Shedd Aquarium. For about five years, I was Director of Content Development for a curriculum company and also wrote several courses for Pearson Publishing. All of these opportunities were stimulating and truly spoke to the role we all enjoy as lifelong learners. (AND, the onsite research for all but the Amazon was a BLAST!) Currently, I teach part time in the biology department at Bradley University in Peoria, IL. I am also a member of the P.E.O. Sisterhood, which I find tremendously rewarding as this organization facilitates financing in the form of grants, loans, and scholarships for the educational needs of woman all over the world. Education is key to so much in this crazy world of ours. If we promote education on whatever level we can, we are truly promoting the future. I served as President of IL State Chapter and served on the International Leadership Team as a STAR Trustee. It is an honor to assist in any way I am able. My hobbies include cycling, hiking, traveling, and cooking. We especially like Costa Rica, where our oldest son lived with his wife and two of our granddaughters. We also spend about 3 weeks per year hiking in Colorado. I serve on the boards of the Fine Arts Society of Peoria and Peoria Wilds, a nature conservancy group. I am also an assistant scoutmaster for my granddaughter's BSA troop. Together we are Order of the Arrow Brotherhood members. I just completed my Woodbadge requirements. 20+ nights camping out is pretty much normal for me. I'm thinking about going to Philmont in 2025. They may need to carry me out! HA! Life is GOOD and, after surviving my cancer trifecta in 2022, appreciated to the fullest! I credit my family and the rich experiences from my growing up years for so much. Note that your profile will only display your name and personal comment (whatever biographical or other information you might choose to enter about yourself). The other important information, your email and mailing address, is not visible but instead is used internally for supporting the "Send you a Message" option and for showing the city you live in on the "Where are they now?" map. Access for you to review/update your detailed profile information requires establishing email/password credentials for you to login to the site. Classmate Email Addresses
The classmate email addresses below are being provided here temporarily to aid those classmates listed in verifying the site has the correct email address for them under their classmate profile. The profiles in the Classmates list for these folks have all been updated with the current email addresses shown for them here. You'll find two lists of email addresses below:
- Verified email addresses which have verified as accurate in the Dec/22 time frame through email exchanges with their owners.
- Validated but unverified email addresses: This list came from one that was maintained over the years by Pat with updates folks would send her. These emails are valid in that an email to them was not rejected by the mail servers. But no response was received from the associated classmate so we don't know if the classmate is actually receiving these emails any longer. If you see yourself on this list, then please Contact us to provide your correct address information.
The plan is to remove the view of these lists from the site after folks have had a few weeks time to veify their address is accurate. Since we've ensured these addresses have now been included in each person's classmate profile, keeping the list here isn't needed to communicate with them and presents the concern that some internet troll might snatch them for use in spamming operations.
Note that the email addresses in the list here are the same as those configured (but not displayed) under each correspondingly named classmate profile listed earlier above. Note though, that the email adddress list here does not cover all the profiles that are listed above. That is, some of the classmate profiles above are for classmates not named in the below email addresses list. Those other profiles may not have an email address configured or may have one that isn't included in the list below. For help ensuring the email addresses for those other profiles are correct and for help ensuring the general information, such as home mailing address, for any profile is correct, refer to these User Tips.
