Guest Book

The Guest Book facility under our new web site hosted on myevent.com works similar to how it did under the old homestead.com hosted site. You just need to enter your name and an email address to post to the guest book. So feel free to post here as you used to do under the old site

The steps to making a post to the Guest Book are:
  1. Click on the "Post Comment" button.
  2. Compose your post in the resulting post composition box.
  3. Click the "Submit" button below the post composition box.
Note, do not click again on the the "Post Comment" button. That will instead cancel your post.
Note: Guest book posts are subject to filtering which is trying to prevent spammers from posting advertisements to the site. That filtering will report that "something is missing or incorrect" and not allow you to submit your post.
  • Mainly, that filtering is trying to prevent any potential web address (URL) phrases like "xxx.com", "xxx.net" and the like from being included in the content of your post. Unfortunately, the filtering is rather agressive and reports the error in many cases where a period character is embedded within simple, non web address, character strings. Even a number reference like "3.5" has triggered the error.
  • So if you encounter a warning preventing you from submitting a post, look through the text of your post and remove or modify any web address like reference to something in words like "xxxdotcom" or "xxxdotnet". Or remove the embedded period within any other type of string that might contain one. For our number example above, the change from "3.5" to " 3 1/2" worked to avoid the error.

Hi classmates I am sorry to post sad news that i just received through a page from Linda Cramer's page on face book. Linda has lost her battle with breast cancer and has passed away July 3rd 2025. I chatted with her a month or so ago and she was ready for the end. She was a real trooper about her cancer and did all she could to help her body with this battle. She and I spoke of her and Carla will be able to be together in the FINALE REUNION IN THE SKY. She told me that she knew she wouldn't make our 60th reunion and wished all of us to have a laugh or two about the good old days. so I SAY ONCE AGAIN GOOD BY TO A VERY GOOD FRIEND REST IN PEACE TILL WE MEET AGIN IN THE FINAL REUNION IN THE SKY. SO LONG LINDA AND REST IN PEACE.

Good morning everyone, you can disregard the comment that I posted yesterday. I have a solution for all classmates attending. Thanks for your thoughts. You too Bob Marlowe.

comment by Dale Bolk

Ha Class of '65, its only less than one month away before our BIG 60 class reunion. I have a request from all the attendees. I came across some of the wallet size photos (graduation photos) that I collected from most of you back 60 years ago. I am making lanyards for you to wear with your graduation photo while at the reunion. I only have 14 photos of the attendees that are listed on this EHS65 site. If you still have your graduation photo and other EHS classmates' attendees, will you please bring them to the reunion, and I will provide the lanyard. Thanks, and looking forward to seeing you all. Have a fun and safe 4th of July.

Just a reminder that today, 6/14/25, 1-4 pm, there's a Celebration of Life scheduled for Lanny Haglund at the Log Cabin Tavern, 2821 County Rd E, South Range. We won't be able to attend, but wanted to ensure others in the Superior area today had it in mind.

comment by Larry Strack

Forgot to mentioned - will be at Shamrock Fri night (Heard Marlow is buying. - will be at the Gala event on Sat. - both events will be solo.

comment by Pat Wild Franzen

Greetings, It is unlikely that I will be able to attend. Way too much on my plate right now with teaching and travel. If anything changes, I’ll let you know. Blessings, Pat

comment by Larry Strack

I will be attending the upcoming class reunion.

comment by Bob Marlowe

I sure would like to see that attendance list grow some, especially with the locals that still live in Duluth/Superior. 🥲

comment by Bob Beetcher for Pam Haglund and Family

Pam Haglund and Family have provided an announcement, which you can see on our site home page, for a Celebration of Life for Lanny. We're all invited to celebrate his life with his family on 6/14/25, 1-4 PM, at the Log Cabin, 2821 County Rd E, South Range, WI.

I believe access to our Class Website home page, https://ehs65.com/, is now working again. Failing to get through to their support line for 2 days, I tried poking around the Administration options and located a section where I could access the settings for defining our ehs65.com domain to their service. The entry was marked "Inactive." Evidently, it was set to that as a by product of them deploying the new version of their service. Setting it to "Active" then fixed the problem that was causing the "404" error and now access to our home page appears to be working again.

comment by Bob Beetcher

The web site service hosting our ehs65.com Class Website is currently having problems. Attempts to access the home page, https://ehs65.com/, for our site isn't working correctly and instead displays a page saying "404 Sorry, but we could not find the page you were looking for." This is likely a side effect of them having just deployed a new version of their web site hosting service. I have a service request in to them and will advise all on the status of that when I learn more. Bob

comment by Bob Beetcher

The web site service hosting our ehs65.com Class Website has announced that they've just rolled out a major upgrade to our website platform! An important part of this is that the Guest Book posting interface is easier to use so don't be afraid to use it to communicate. Here are a couple of other noteworthy items on what’s new: Improved User Interface – A cleaner, more intuitive design makes it easier than ever to navigate. Faster Performance – Enjoy a speedier, smoother experience from start to finish. So when you get a chance, check out the website again. I think you'll find some of the pictures being presented better in addition to the Guest Book posting interface more easy to use. Bob

comment by Bob Beetcher for Pat (Wild) Franzen

Folks, the following message is from Pat (Wild) Franzen. She submitted it using the "Contact" page, which only is sent to me, the site administrator, instead of the "Guest Book" page which gets distributed out to all folks for whom we have an email address. I wanted you all to see it, so I am submitting it as a Guest Book post on Pat's behalf. Here's Pat: Such fun to see the FUN! Sadly, I do not recognize many faces. You need bigger nametags! I hope to be back for the 60th in 2025, Lord willing. I did not graduate with the Class of '65, but I was with the Nelson Dewey/Franklin crowd until Grade 11 when we moved to Iowa. I remember with great fondness my years in Superior. The North Woods remains a draw for me. I travel to the Rhinelander area with my Boy Scouts every so often. I'm an assistant scoutmaster for a female troop. I'm just now completing Wood Badge and having a blast. My granddaughter and I are honored to be OA Brotherhood and typically spend 20+ nights each year in our tents/hammocks in the forests. We earned Zero Hero last January when we spent 24 hours in the woods at Tomahawk Scout Reservation up there. It hit -7 that night. I know, I know... That's nothing to a true Superior dweller. :-) May you all enjoy a beautiful fall season. Blessings, P

Special thanks to Larry and Nancy for your photos and sharing them with us. To those who didn't come to this reunion, I am encouraging you classmates that how important it is to come to the next two years of reunion's especially those who haven't been to a reunion for awhile. We have lost forty nine classmates out of our one hundred seventy two classmates the we graduated with. It is just a joy to see and visit with everyone. Time is running out for all of us. It's understandable that some of you are not able to come for health reason's. Also those that live far away it's understandable. So if you can't come to the reunions come into the guest book and chat with us. We have such an awesome web site to enjoy let us know you are still interested that we have this format to stay in touch. Ok I am done now. So I will get off my soap box till next time. Love you all and hugs. PJ

comment by Bob Beetcher for Larry Strack

Just to let you all now. A number of additional photos from Larry, in the latter half of our 2023 58th Reunion Photos album, are now available on the home page. Thanks to Larry for all his efforts in taking the photos at the reunion and getting them uploaded to the reunion album.

comment by Patricia Little

Hi Cousin Bob and all the classmates from Washington school from years ago. So cool that you all got together. love love the photos. Where did you all meet it looks like a really nice place? Would this place be big enough for our class reunions?????

comment by Bob Beetcher

Recently, a few folks who went to Oakland Grade School together gathered for an Oakland Grade School class reunion. A few photos from that gathering are now available under the "Various Memorabilia" page which can be accessed from the "Menu" option on the upper right of this page. Under the "Various Memorabilia" page you can find those photos by scrolling down to the "8-17-23 Oakland Grade School Class Reunion" photo album. For any of those that attended and might have additional photos for that gathering, you can upload those photos to the album using the "Upload Photos" button under the album.

comment by Bob Beetcher for Nancy Nordswen Hossalla

We owe our thanks to Nancy Nordswen Hossalla for all those great reunion pictures that were just uploaded. My apologies to Nancy for being unable to determine who had uploaded them. At least one of the pictures of the whole group of attendees came from Larry. So he deserves our thanks for that. I believe Larry has a number of other photos that he plans to upload as well when he's finished reviewing them. So, likely there are more to come.

comment by Bob Beetcher for Larry Strack

Just to let you all now. A number of great photos from our 2023 reunion are now available on the home page. I believe they are contributed by Larry Strack. If they weren't uploaded by Larry, my apologies to whoever contributed them. But Larry spent a lot of his time at the reunion taking photos, so I'm assuming he uploaded them for us. Thanks Larry.

This is what I did to get the notice. I used Google on my A14 Samsung phone our url came up and I used that. I used numbers, dollar sign and cents. I tried a second time with removing the numbers and typed them like I did here in my posting on our site, and it still wouldn't except it. But as you see it worked here using my computer. Hope this explanation helps, if not you can call me and we can discuss it some more. I put it up here so that others can read this and help them to pay attention in how they submit there posting. very curious. PJ

comment by Patricia Little

Ok classmates and Bob, I have tried to post this message using my phone and it won't take it???? so here goes I will try it this way. Many thanks to Len Moreau for his donation to our fund. It was a big one. I offered to give Bob a refund to the payment he made to secure our new web site. But this is what he said. He didn't need it and to put the whole amount Len donated into our account. So we now have six hundred fifty nine and cents. Next time you see Len thank him for his donation. I thank you Len, hugs PJ

THIS IS A HUGE REMINDER WHEN USING THE GUEST BOOK. AFTER YOU HAVE FINISHED WITH TYPING YOUR MESSAGE IF YOU WANT YOUR MESSAGE TO APPEAR HERE ON THE GUEST BOOK YOU MUST SCROLL DOWN PAST THE WHITE BOX AND LOOK FOR THE BLACK BOX THAT SAYS TO POST TO GUEST BOOK AND CLICK ON THAT BOX WITH YOUR MESSAGE. TO VERIFY THAT YOUR MESSAGE HAS BEEN ACCEPTED SCROLL BACK UP AND THERE WILL BE A GREEN CHECK MARK THAT TELLS YOU THE MESSAGE IS GOOD AND POSTING TO THE GUEST BOOK. HOPE THIS HELPS IF YOU DONT SEE YOUR MESSAGE IN THE GUEST BOOK.

I look forward to next couple years in keeping my fingers crossed that you will be able to attend either next year when we have the 60th. We will all be happy to see you. Thank you for the kind words about my song at the 50th reunion it was a heartfelt song that I felt fit how all of us feel about missing the friends we all miss from high school. Those are special relationships that seem to mean more the older we get. So take care of yourself and look forward to seeing you in the future. Hugs PJ

Greetings Class of '65! I am sad to miss the reunion this weekend. I've become very involved with Boy Scouts and serve as a leader. We have campouts often and this next one is going to be especially fun. Adult leaders are doing a float trip down the Merrimac (sp?) in MO. We will be kayaking, canoeing, rafting, swimming, hiking, whatever. Camping out two nights that weekend, cooking our own food, and generally having a blast! I'm hoping the weather is good so I can set up my camping hammock. In general, life is good! I'm still teaching adjunct at Bradley University when I feel like it. Taking fall term off as we have some travel plans and they wanted me to teach two courses. Nope! Too much like work. HA! I just finished teaching ecology at Fermilab all last week. Hotter than blazes, but still a great time. I'm happiest when I'm out in the natural world. I credit growing up in Superior for that love. I still enjoy fishing. Caught a 4 1/2 pound bass on a 6-pound test line in MO last May. I need to go down to my dock and pull out more bluegill, but they are so boring. I'm still involved with curriculum development at Fermilab. Some of my favorite projects were for Fermi, including the Energy and Ecosystems program I wrote. I've been associated with them for nearing 40 years. The dolphin program I wrote for Brookfield Zoo is a very close second. Is it any wonder that I aligned with BSA? Once a tomboy, always a tomboy I wish you all well! Hope you have a marvelous time next weekend. I'll shoot for our 60th in 2025 - OK? OMIGOSH! How can that be? I'd love to hear from some who may remember me. We moved in the spring term of our junior year, but I was Grade 1-11 with many of you. HAPPY REUNION! Blessings, P

So sorry Kathie I was looking forward to seeing you. I had a big question for you do you still have the list of addresses from our covid cancelation reunion???????

comment by Kathie Kukull Teslaw

Oops, I did it again!! I was looking forward to our gathering this weekend, but the oldest hip replacement decided to jump “ ship” , leaving me in the lurch for the next six weeks, and full recovery taking a few months. I will be missing great conversations from Brest class members. A toast to those no longer with us, and , I am certain, greatly missed. Hope to meet up next year…to the greatest and last grads of Superior East High School, ❤️????????????????????????!

So sorry classmates to see on FB that we also have another loss in our graduating class. Devon Eccles has passed away. I have no other info as to what happened other than it was unexpected. He was a great guy full of the dickens and love to laugh. SO I SAY TO YOU DEVON AND BOB FLY FOREVER FREE TILL WE MEET AGAIN IN THE FINAL REUNION IN THE SKY.

comment by Mark Minguey

Sorry to hear of Bob Hengels passing. We were best of friends starting with the basketball team at Franklin Junior High and all through High School. I spent several summer weekends with Bob and his family at their cabin on Middle Eau Claire Lake. Even after graduation there were weekends when Bob Jackson, myself and others would head down to Madison to visit Bob and his roommate Jim Nelson at UW. They'd put us up in their dorm room after a night of partying on State Street or at the Bunny Hop out in Middleton. I hadn't seen him for quite a while but we would talk on the phone regularly in recent years and it was always good to share lots of great memories, some of which were so much fun that they are probably best left unsaid at this point. He was a good friend and will be missed.

Now it makes sense to me, maybe its just me that is confused by the tab above not going away and not seeing the box below to add your post?????

Thanks Bob for putting the reunion message up on the home page. Just to add to that message is the time. 5:30 PM till ??? I also put up a message on FB as well so this should help get the message out. Thanks again and hope this message works today. I will let you know if it appears today or not.

Dear Linda, your message brings tears to my eyes. You where a rock for me when Carla passed. I remember our conversation like it was yesterday you made it more bearable to try to accept her passing. So now I will remember those words for you. I will pray that your last days are as free of pain as possible. We will meet again in the final reunion in the sky and I will be able to give you a hug then. Bless your heart dear friend and classmate. Love and hugs PJ.

comment by Linda Cramer Schlais

The older I get the more my mind does a life review with snippets of conversations or events that often include you folks. Remember them announcing JFK assassination…I was in German class. I’ll turn 76 tomorrow….probably my last birthday. I’ve battled breast cancer off and on for 29 years and now I’m at the end as it’s in my spine. I feel pretty good most days but it’s gaining on me. I’ve had a great life with three kids, 8 grands and 3 great grands and for 35 years the best man I’ve known for a partner. I’ve been a nurse and foster mom and had good friends…can’t ask for more. I miss my buddy Carla and we were in daily contact her last two years…we talked a lot about high school….she could remember so many things I’d forgotten about. Thanks to any of you who remember me fondly. I’ll eventually see you all and we’ll have a great reunion.????

Bob Hengel passed away this morning. I spoke with his ex-wife Ann, she said he passed peacefully. I believe there will be an obituary in the Mpls. Star Tribune and the Duluth News Tribune in the next few days.
