Devon E. Eccles, age 76, of Brillion, passed away Monday morning, July 10, 2023 at his home.
Devon was born on June 4, 1947 in Salt Lake City, Utah, son of the late Ermul “Tony” and Donna Yadon. He was a graduate of Superior East High School. Devon served in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War. He was a graduate of Wisconsin Indian Head Technical College with a degree in mechanical design and then later graduated from Northeast Wisconsin Technical College with a degree in supervisory management. He was employed with Ariens Company of Brillion, Voith Paper of Appleton, Giddings & Lewis of Fond du Lac and then drove for the Brillion Ambulance Service for 10 years. After his retirement, he enjoyed driving school bus with the Brillion district for 13 years. Devon had his pilot’s license and was a valet for EAA. He enjoyed riding his motorcycle and preferred Honda Goldwings, hunting deer, model airplanes and Outlaw Racing. Devon was a dog lover and always enjoyed socializing with various friends at lunch get togethers.
Survivors include his children: Duane (Melissa) Swonger, Hammond, WI, Bill (special friend Melissa Denault) Swonger, Manitowoc; Dawnie Wacek, Brillion; six grandchildren: Carter, Cole, Hayden, Logan, Kylee, Alexa; and one great grandchild: Aiden; one brother: Tony (Sheila) Yadon, Prole, IA; and cousin: Penny Eccles. Nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive. He was preceded in death by his parents; the mother of his children: Darlene Eccles; and cousin: Denny Eccles.
A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 15, 2023 at the Pielhop Wieting Funeral Home, Brillion. Military Rites will be accorded by the American Legion Post #126 of Brillion. A reception will take place at Carstens Mill from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. to share more stories and honor Devon.
The family will greet relatives and friends on Saturday, July 15, 2023 at the Pielhop Wieting Funeral Home, Brillion, from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 1:00 p.m.
The family encourages those who attend to dress casually as that was Devon’s style.
